As 2 out of our 3 members droped out for lake of time, we are in need of the following people: Music incharge (1) - General members (3) Unlimited users account to the members of INET Dev. [ 3 ] IDN Dist. IDN is the Israeli Demoscene Network. We share 8 mail areas right now, probably adding some files areas in the future. We need more scene boards to carry this network as well as PEOPLE who can help sysops install IDN on different BBS Packages (RA/PCB/INIQ). An article?? In CFXNews?". Well, YES! I thought that a nice news-letter like this one could use a couple nice articles, something to read besides the delighting files listing and the repetitive news. Something FRESH! So, that's why I've decided to write a column, that as you can by the title will be called (It doesn't have any special meaning, so don't try finding one either). Party Time Lately, I've been talking to some sceners about the known subject: How many hours an Israeli party should last? From some reason, a number of people seems to think that a 2 days & 2 nights party is the optimal time frame for a party. These people, I believe, ignore some very important facts: =1= 2 days & 2 nights means you leave the party willingly or not first thing in the morning, on the 3rd day, which comes around 6 or 7 AM, Which is very early. But if that was all there is to it, I wouldn't be writing this article. =2= Due to this schedual, the main event, The Demo Compo, is schedualed to be at 4 or 5 AM. Most people tend to sleep late at the first night, get up early on the second day, and from there stay awake 'till the end of the party, at 7 AM. (they do it to use most of time at the party) Do you know what that does to a person? Most people just fall to sleep at around 4 to 5 AM, which is the time of the DEMO COMPO! And miss the entire compo, which is the MAIN event of the party! Do you know what it DID to people? In Movement'96, 30% - 40% fell ASLEEP during the demo compo and as a result didn't see the demos, the products which people, groups, have worked on for months! Does that make any sense? Is that a good party schedual, in which 40% of the visitors SLEEP during the most important competition? =3= The party ends up at around 7:00 AM. You can't stay at the party place, after that time, which means, you're packing and walking to the bus station, or driving in your car (which is worse) in a complete state of DAZE, which means: Sleepy! This causes 2 things: 1. You get the feeling that you are kicked out, because you DO want to stay and sleep for a little bit, organize your stuff awake, etc, but the oraganizers, kindly, push you out. 2. You feel bad, ending such a great event in such a lousy hour, and such a lousy feeling: Sleepy, bearly can't stay up on the bus. It just feels bad. In conclusion, a 48 hours party gives you: Bad feeling when you leave, missing the demo compo because you were too tired to stay awake, and to be kicked out the morning after. Now you tell me, is not better to do 3 days & 2 nights party? I'm NOT suggesting to add up an entire day. Just to prolong the schedual to 12:00 on the 3rd day. Technicly, that's adding 5 hours. 5 hours that makes such a HUGE difference! You get to see the demo compo up and awake, at around 9:30 AM, after you had a good breakfast and good night sleep. You get to pack up your things without any pressure, and without being sleepy which result in forgetting equipment at the party place. You get to go home feeling great, after such a good party instead of feeling that this (feeling tired like hell) is what you have to pay for to go through such an event. What I've wrote is based on my exprience: I've been to Mov'95 & Mov'96, and I organized The Summit'96. I would very much like to hear your comments regarding this matter. Just take 5 min to write down your opinion, and mail it to Civax, or me (High Dive), and I assure you it will be published next week. Who knows, we may just open a public wide debate on this : issue, : | | ³ C ya next issue, ³ ³ ³ ³ High Dive ³ ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ [ * ] As i thought, the article from last issue did caused some reactions in the scene. I'de risk of boring you but here are some of MY remarks on the subject. Btw, this is the last cfx news issue disccusuing this subject in such extention. Find some new subjects! [ * ] First, to be realistic, these 5 hours High Dive suggested are 5 more hours to rent the place. I donno how many of you know, but these big places costs ALOT of money. This might effect the prizes size. Another thing is that you'll be as sleepy n' as tierd even after these 5 hours, because... People, parties are for PARTING! I agree we all need to sleep, and thats why we set the FIRST night empty of events - so you people could have a good night sleep! The next day is suppose to be _the_ 'heavier' day, when all of you finish the demos, getting more contacts in the scene and compete in compos. Sleeping is not! mandatory and as you can see, we don't exactly supply beds... There is nothing wrong in being dead tierd after a party! If you think you need a vaccasion go to an hotel, not to a demo- party... However, if more people will ask for it, we'll do a special meeting about this in the organizing of MOV'97. Coz afterall, the party aim is making all of us having FUN! As a coder who works alot on his code, things like this really annoys me. I can't say i code everything by myself, I get lots of help from friends of mine, but theres a long way from listening to an explenation to ripping sources... If anybody thinks I rip my sources or any other stupid thing like that plz give me a call and sort this out with me cause this is really starting to piss me off... ÍÍ New Israeli Releases - CFX Team Rating ÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ[09]ÍÍ We will start rating as of next issue only due to some freetime problems. Rating will be made to the following products: Demos, Intros, Music, Art, Sources and Graphics. Only israeli products will be rated for now. The CFX News Rating Team consists the following people: Civax/Moon Hunters, Turk182/CFX Team, DNA Groove/Moon Hunters, Goodbyte/Moon Hunters. Suggested rating methode as for now is this: 3 medals (Bronze, Silver & Gold) with 0 to 3 pluses. Meaning: Bronze = 1 (lowest), Gold +++ = 12 (highest). For special productions we reserve the option to give Platinium medal, yet, it is hard to belive any non-3rd reality demo will win it... This rating system developed by DNA Groove. We still want to hear your suggestion for the rating method. Please write to civax@kinneret.com or post a message to any of the CFX Team.
